Install

Install lnk, then pick the parts of Local Link you want. lnk is one small command with a plugin for each part, so you install only what you use.

You need macOS on Apple Silicon or Intel, or Linux on x86_64 or arm64, and OpenSSH 8.1 or newer, which macOS and most Linux have already. It's free, and installing needs no account.

curl -fsSL https://local.link/install.sh | sh
lnk up # pick your plugins
lnk upgrade # later: update everything

Install

The installer puts lnk in ~/.local/bin after checking the release's signature with ssh-keygen. It leaves your shell's settings alone and prints the line to add if that folder isn't on your PATH. To choose another folder or a version:

curl -fsSL https://local.link/install.sh | LNK_INSTALL_DIR=/usr/local/bin LNK_VERSION=0.11.0 sh

Configuration lists every variable, and Install lnk covers installing from source, or switching between a release and a source build.

Pick your plugins

lnk up # asks; answer with names or numbers, or enter for all
lnk up agents models # skip the question
ChoiceWhat it's for
agentsYour own AI, running here in a sandbox
modelsThe models on this computer, as an API
tunnelsA public URL for what runs here
bucketsYour files, backed up to your clouds
boxesMachines in your own AWS or Google Cloud account
memorySearch over your agents' files and conversations

Run it again any time to add more. If you run a command whose plugin isn't installed, lnk offers to install it. Plugins lists which plugins each choice installs, and how to add, update and remove them.

Tunnels, boxes and share links need an account, which is lnk auth login with GitHub while Local Link is an invite-only beta. Agents, models and buckets run on your computer and your clouds, without Local Link's servers.
