Get Started

Link manages the harness your agent runs on. A harness is the program that runs an AI agent: it talks to the model, keeps the conversation and calls the tools. Pick one of four, and Link installs it, sandboxes it, connects it to your phone and keeps it up to date. Switch with one command, and your agent keeps its model, files and channels.

lnk agent use # the harnesses, and which one runs your agent
lnk agent use openclaw # switch to OpenClaw, installing it the first time
lnk agent new work --harness hermes # another agent, on Hermes Agent

Switching, and what comes along: Switch Harnesses.

Every harness takes a hosted model from Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter with your key, and speaks Telegram, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp and Signal. Each one's page has its limits and its troubleshooting.

Pick one

  • Link Harness to start: your agent runs it unless you pick another. It's small and readable, installs in a second, asks for nothing beyond Link's defaults, and keeps each conversation as files you can read. It's the one harness that starts subagents and schedules messages to itself.
  • OpenClaw for OpenClaw's personal assistant, with its own personality files and its commands from your phone, such as /restart. It runs local models only through Ollama, and with Slack or Discord it asks for lan.
  • Hermes Agent for Nous Research's agent, with a model in Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, vLLM or Jan. Its hermes claw migrate brings over OpenClaw's memory and skills.
  • DeepSeek Harness for DeepSeek's open-source agent, with DeepSeek's models on OpenRouter or any other. Link turns off everything it would send DeepSeek, its web search among them.
  • Installs it: the release Link pins, checked before it runs, in a home of its own (~/Link/Agents/<agent>/Harnesses/<name>). lnk upgrade updates it with Link.
  • Sets it up: your model, your files folder, your channels and your tools, written into the harness's own settings.
  • Sandboxes it: it writes only its own folders, and reaches the internet only through Link's filtering proxy. Anything more, it asks you for first (Allow what a harness needs).
  • Keeps your model key out of it: Link's proxy, outside the sandbox, adds the key on the way to the provider (Keep the model key out).
  • Connects your phone: lnk agent connect telegram, and only you can talk to it (Text it from your phone).
  • Gives it memory: Link Memory searches your agent's files and conversations, whichever harness runs it.
  • Moves it and backs it up: lnk agent move and lnk agent backup carry what the harness knows, whichever it is (Move it to a box).
  • Checks it: lnk agent <harness> check tries, from inside the sandbox, what it shouldn't be able to do.

What they need

the agents plugins (lnk up agents). Every harness here comes with Link and is free; the model is yours to pick, and a hosted one bills you (Models).

Use another harness

Any other harness comes from outside Link, as a plugin with an adapter answering the harness contract. Add it once, then switch to it by its name: Switch Harnesses.

Why Link runs harnesses this way: Agents Decisions.
