Switch Harnesses

Change what runs your agent in one command, and back. It keeps its model, key, files folder and channels; Link installs the harness the first time and keeps it up to date with lnk upgrade. Which to pick: Harnesses.

Switch in one command

lnk agent use # list the harnesses and which one is active
lnk agent use hermes # switch to Hermes, installing it the first time
lnk agent use link # back to Link Harness

One harness runs an agent at a time.

What comes along

The new harness gets the same model, key, files folder and channels. If it doesn't speak one of your channels, use says so and that channel stays quiet until you switch back. Memory and conversations stay with each harness, but Link Harness's, which are in your files folder.

What it asks for

A harness that needs more than Link's defaults, such as the network without its filtering proxy, says what and why, and asks before your agent switches. No changes nothing. What it asks, and how to take it back: Permissions.

Use another harness

Three harnesses besides Link Harness come with Link, each a plugin of its own: lnk agent use installs it the first time.

lnk agent use openclaw # installs OpenClaw, then starts it
lnk agent use hermes
lnk agent use deepseek
HarnessWhat it is
OpenClawThe personal AI assistant, from openclaw.ai
Hermes AgentNous Research's agent
DeepSeek HarnessDeepSeek's open-source agent, dsh (GitHub)

Each one's page says how it runs, its limits, and what to do when it doesn't answer. All four, side by side: Harnesses. What it needs beyond Link's defaults, it asks for: Allow what a harness needs. lnk upgrade updates it with Link.

Any other harness comes from outside Link, with an adapter answering the harness contract: a plugin from its own repository, signed by its own key. Add it once, then switch to it by its name (Plugins).

lnk plugin add https://github.com/<owner>/<repo> # shows its key and asks

Remove a harness

lnk agent openclaw show # its home, and anything of it left elsewhere
lnk agent openclaw remove # delete all of it

remove deletes the harness's install, settings, memory and conversations, whatever show finds of it outside its home, and its grants, unless another agent here runs it: added again, it asks again for what it needs. Your files folder and your agent's settings stay. --yes doesn't ask first.
