local.link

Get started

Install lnk, then pick the parts of Local Link you want. lnk is one small command with a plugin for each part, so you install only what you use.

Needs: macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel) or Linux x86_64, and OpenSSH, already on macOS and most Linux. Free.

curl -fsSL https://local.link/install.sh | sh
lnk up # pick your plugins
lnk upgrade # later: update everything

Install

curl -fsSL https://local.link/install.sh | sh

It installs lnk into ~/.local/bin, after checking the release's signature with ssh-keygen. It doesn't change your shell's settings: if that folder isn't on your PATH, it prints the line to add.

Pick your plugins

lnk up # asks; press enter for all
lnk up agents models # skip the question
ChoiceWhat it's for
agentsYour own AI, running here in a sandbox
modelsThe models on this computer, as an API
tunnelsA public URL for what runs here
bucketsYour files, backed up to your clouds
boxesMachines in your own AWS or Google Cloud account
memorySearch over your agents' files and conversations

Run it again any time to add more. Run a command whose plugin isn't installed, and lnk offers to install it.

Tunnels, boxes and share links need an account: lnk auth login, with GitHub, in an invite-only beta. Agents, models and buckets run on your computer and your clouds, without Local Link's servers.

Add or remove a plugin

lnk plugin list # every plugin, and which are installed
lnk plugin add hermes # and what it needs
lnk plugin remove bucket # your settings and files stay

Keep up to date

lnk upgrade

It updates lnk and the plugins you installed, after checking the new release's signature. If anything fails, what you have stays as it was. lnk tunnel open tells you when a new version is out.

Uninstall

lnk uninstall

It stops your agents and removes lnk and its plugins. Then it asks, one part at a time, whether to delete what Local Link kept: your agents, your files in ~/Link/Personal, your buckets' passwords, your cloud keys, your relay login and the rest. Each stays unless you pick it, so installing again picks it up. What you pushed to your clouds stays.
