Anza-Borrego Desert

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park spans about 650,000 acres in eastern San Diego County, making it California’s largest state park. The landscape features wind-sculpted badlands, dramatic canyons, and lush palm groves connected by hundreds of miles of dirt roads and miles of hiking trails. In spring, a famous __Super Bloom can blanket the desert with color when rains align with seeds; even in lean years, pockets of blooms appear along Henderson Canyon and other canyons. After dark, Borrego Springs offers some of Southern California’s darkest skies for stargazing, while nearby Galleta Meadows Estate sculptures add a surreal artistic edge to the desert. Top sights include Palm Canyon__, Maidenhair Falls, Hellhole Palms, and the Borrego Badlands.
